Our Favorite Wedding Photos of 2024

After putting copious amounts of time, energy, and thought into their wedding preparations, when the big day finally arrives, to-be-weds often say that it all goes by in the blink of an eye. During the celebration, the guests of honor are usually pulled in so many different directions, and couple that with the inevitable nerves brides and grooms tend to feel, many find it difficult to soak in every moment and detail. That’s why photos play such an important role in the wedding—as the only real tangible reminder of the event, the pictures taken during the affair give couples the ability to relive every incredible memory, marvel at every beautiful piece of décor, and experience any portion of the day that they were physically or mentally absent for. 

Most of all, these photos tell a story—not just a story about the chronology of their event, but a story about the relationship they built up until that point and the unconditional love they have for their friends and family. On the surface, images are a snapshot in time, but behind every one of these pictures is history and depth—every hardship the couple overcame, every touching moment they shared, every planning decision they deliberated over. A single photo takes its viewers on an emotional journey, from the pride and nostalgia a parent feels seeing their child walk down the aisle to the adoration and disbelief newlyweds experience as they lock eyes during their first dance; and a sensory journey, like the slight breeze and the singsong call of birds that wafted in the air during the ceremony or the cold, sugary taste of a post-ceremony ice cream cone in the summer heat.

Wedding photos are also works of art that photographers skillfully enhance by positioning their camera in just the right way or pressing the shutter button at exactly the right time. A snapshot of a couple’s first kiss feels more emotionally rich with an overhead angle that includes all of their loved ones, and their candid reactions, in the frame; a picture of a post-ceremony Champagne pop seems to come to life as the sparkling wine spews from the bottle and the surface of the ocean ripples behind the newlyweds.
